Unleashing our new zine about websites, the people who make them, and the future internet we’re all building.

Universe’s mission is to make it fun and easy for creators to build the website of their dreams.

This is our passion because websites aren’t only a powerful tool for creators—they’re also what make the internet an endlessly promising space. While many of today’s biggest platforms homogenize and cheapen our digital spaces, we stand for the alternative: a web where we can all be unique, curious, and creative online, and where we’re encouraged to collectively dream about the wilder spaces of wide-open possibility we’ve yet to build.

We’re launching Dream Machine as a space to unravel more creative and compelling visions for the web’s future. Think of reading this zine as taking a trip through an infinite universe, where every website is its own planet, with its own works and ideas. On this trip, every featured creator, artist, and thinker is a fellow traveler, exploring the same realm—but from a different perspective, with a different view. We want to share those views with you, and to share some of our own, too.

Although Nelson’s vision for the future web didn’t exactly come to pass, his idea that “everything is intertwingled” still holds true.

On today’s internet, every website is a portal to something more—either to someone’s creative vision, their unfolding ideas, or to other places and ideas on the internet. That’s why we want everybody to be able to make their own website: Because this intertwingled, expansive nature of the web is what keeps it evolving and alive, like waves in the ocean.
